A. No. If you have taken the Canadian Firearms Safety Course prior to completing online Hunter Education, you do not need to take firearm safety training again. Q. What is an Outdoors Card number and why do I need one?

A. An Outdoors Card number is an identification number used to keep track of your conservation education training and licence eligibility. In New Brunswick you require an Outdoors Card number to purchase an angling, hunting, or trapping licence, apply to a wildlife draw, and register for a Conservation Education course.

When you register for an Outdoors Card number you will be mailed an Outdoors Card which is provided as a way to remember your identification number. An Outdoors Card is not a hunting licence and does not have to be carried with you while hunting, angling, or trapping.

Q. How long will it take to have my Outdoors Card updated to show I have Hunter Education training once I complete the online course?

A. Applications for an Outdoors Card Number go through a client verification and quality assurance process. In certain situations, this may delay your training history from being updated by a day or two.

However, in most cases, the training information associated with an Outdoors Card number is updated automatically upon successful completion of the online Hunter Education Course.

Q. I have already taken the classroom Hunter Education course. Do I need to take it again online?

A. No. If you have previously taken the Hunter Education Course, either as a classroom or Home Study course, you are not required to take it again online.

If you are not sure about the previous Conservation Education courses you have taken, check the Training Qualifications section of your Outdoors Card number profile, or contact your local Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development office.
